It once was a church, But is now the final resting place of some of France's intellectuals, Dumas, Hugo, Voltare and Marie Curie are buried here. It wasn't open yet so we kept going.

We sat and watched the joggers and figured out our day. The garden is amazing. The huge building is used for the senate, and next door is an orangerie. A building used to hold orange trees during winter months.

Left the garden and walked towards St. Sulpice church (YSL rive gauche was across the street) The church was undergoing renovations and since it was palm sunday they had service outside. I think? could be overflow. Ha!

Arrived at the Seine, and noticed there was a marathon, on the other side. We were headed to the Louvre.

Dan took pictures of the runners, A couple of people got together and played music for the runners. Funky town was on the roster. When we arrived at the Louvre the 3 km mark was in front, and the finish line was at the Arc de Triomphe. Luckily this was our only contact with the marathon.
Arrived at the Louvre. Needed a bite to eat. Ended up at a bougie spot, the view was great. The table next to us was not. Two rich girls and they're parents. They only spoke french but entitled asshole is a universal language. aw snap!

They had a scale model of the original building. It was sorta like sleeping beauty's castle. that style with turrets and ramparts. drawbridges.

We left the louvre, Looking for the Ritz hotel. Dan and I wanted to see the Hemingway bar and also a bar that was recently redesigned by Phillip Starke. Both located inside the hotel. We got lost ( again) but eventually found the hotel. The bar is all the way in the back of the first floor. Full of cabinets with expensive things to buy. I had Vans on that kept making farting noises when I walked.
It sort of killed my "I'm supposed to be here" vibe I was putting out.
Turned out the bar wasn't open until 6:45. an hour and a half away. Dan went to the bathroom and came back with a full report and pictures. don't worry.

"The nicest toilet in all of paris"

Gold fixtures and real towels. It was really great after 3 hours in a museum.
The bar finally opened and we sat down for approximatly 2 seconds before realizing that all the signature drinks at the bar were 30 euros. 30 EUROS! What a joke! Hemingway wouldn't pay 30 euros for a drink! We hightailed it out of there ! (So did 4 other people) But not before I stole the menu.
Here's some more crazyness.
(later looking at said menu I realized it was for sale for 5 euros. yes! I stuck it to the MAN!)
Found in the metro.

We took the metro back to the left bank looking for food,(HANGRY!!) Ended up at a tourist trap. Paid 8 euros for some unsalted onion soup, NO gratin on the cheese. and a martini that wasn't a martini, but a glass of sweet white vermouth, with ice and a lemon dropped in for good measure. what the hell??
Grabbed a beer at a expat bar down the street and then headed to Pont Neuf for our boat cruise. Our friends Rinaldo and Amy bought us tickets for christmas. They rule! it was amazing!!
A really great way to see paris, and at night is even better!
